Meet Harley

My husband was spending his Sunday afternoon online looking for a Harley Davidson Motorcycle to buy. I told him to stop wasting his time, as this is no time for a motorcycle.. He than decided to look for a puppy. He knows how much I miss my dog, Kody back home in California and he knows how having a dog here in Italy would make me extremely happy.

I am used to having big dogs my whole life. Kody, is a shepherd/chow chow mix, or so we think...I was never fond of the smaller dogs. Having a large dog in an apartment is not very nice for the dog however, so we narrowed down our search to a barboncini nano, which is english is a miniature poodle.

After pages of pages on we found the perfect one.

Tuesday afternoon, we went to see the puppy, and I couldn't believe how poorly the puppy was kept. He was kept in a barn in a cage with his mother. There were more cages, with more puppies. Then, it hit me, this farmer makes his money selling puppies.. Even if that is the case, keep better care of them, PLEASE!

The puppy we looked at smelled so bad. His hair was all matted and a mess, he reaked of pee and poop. My husband wouldn't even hold him as the stench was unbearable.. But, I didn't mind one bit, I picked him up in my arms, and at the moment I knew he was the one.. Besides, I didn't want him to go back to the barn. I might add, the farmer had no lights for the puppies and dogs in the barn, my puppy never saw light. How cruel can one be?

Anyhow, we bought him, took him to get groomed, cleaned and home he came with us. Early next week, he has an appointment with the Vet to make sure he is a healthy pup.

Oh yes, back to his name. Well, as I said earlier my husband wanted to buy a Harley, and that he did that Tuesday afternoon. We named him Harley. He does have an apricot coat, which will get darker as he ages.. With a black collar and leash, and there you have the colors of Harley Davidson. LOL.

I look forward to going back to California next year, and having Harley meet Kody, and the rest of my family. I am sure all who meets him will fall in love with him as he has quite the personality.

Here is Kody and I in 2010.. I thought to share with you guys a couple photos of Kody, since I mentioned him in the blog. He loves to give kisses, such a gentle soul he has.

I love this photo. For me, I see Kody and Gracie waiting for my return :)
Gracie is my brothers dog, she is such a sweetheart.

So, you see I've always had bigger dogs, but now I can surely say, I am quite fond of smaller ones too.
Harley has quite a BIG personality packed inside his small body. He will surely live up to his name :)

  1. Puppy love! Congratulations!

  2. Love it Em! Welcome to puppy parenting....

    1. Thanks Mom, it was hard but so worth it :)

  3. How precious. I'm glad Harley found a great home. Puppy mills and people that don't care of the pups they are selling makes me sick. So sad :( One of our dogs is named Harley :) Can't wait to see more pics! :)

  4. Thanks guys.. They should have a Puppy Parenting 101 book. What a handful this little guy is. I agree with you, Ryan. I hate seeing such terrible conditions they put animals in. Do they not have a conscience? Anyhow, thanks so much for the support and compliments. More pictures to come for sure :) xoxo
