Italian Grapes in October

The rain finally subsided for an hour and two and I decided to take advantage of the afternoon and took some photos of my neighbors grapes..

I've never seen grapes all different colors before on one stem.. Please enlighten me if you know what the name of these particular grapes are..

Aren't they beautiful???

Update : Today, I finally had a chance to speak with my neighbor and he told me these are uva fragola in English Strawberry Grapes.. The reason why they are all different colors and not the usual deep purple that they are suppose to be is because there is not enough sun and they aren't mature yet.

Long way . . .

Harley, our barboncino nano "Miniature Poodle" has a come a looooooooooooong way from living in a old barn with no sunshine or exercise..

With a lot of love, attention and care he became one happy boy..

 What a handsome profile ~
This has got to be MY favorite photo of Harley thus far..
Harley, playing with one of his favorite new toys that his grandma sent him all the way from California.. The toys, are just better in America.. More of a variety.. If you would like to send Harley a toy, inbox me, and I will send you our address.

Loves his "Plubber" squirrel from his "grandma"

He is becoming more and more photogenic with the camera..

Hope you all have enjoyed these photos of Harley as much as he enjoys his new life :)

Pasta, Pasta and more Pasta

Hello everyone!!!

Tonight, when I walked in the door, I came home to this beautiful and delicious pasta dish that Marco made for us.

Marco has many talents that I wish I had. He is able to use whatever ingredients we have in the refrigerator and invent a new dish.

An idea POPPED in my head.. Why doesn't he write a Pasta cookbook.. Italian Pasta dishes..50 Pasta dishes.. Italian... Not Italian American or American Italian, but "solo" Italian.. Still working on the name of course..

And of course simple to make.. and photos are a must :)

Let me know what you all think about that..

After he washed and chopped the tomatoes and eggplant he saut├ęd with olive oil, garlic, rosemary and sage.

After the pasta is cooked and drained add the veggies and mix..

Yes, its that simple :)

Rotolo di Faraona

Rotolo di Faraona or Roast of Guinea Fowl is an amazingly easy dish to make. . .

I had a very busy day yesterday full of appointments and traveling. When I finally arrived home I was exhausted and hungry.

Earlier in the morning, I had stopped at my favorite "macelleria" ( butcher)  and bought the Roast of Guinea Fowl.. I am so happy I did.. As I was far too tired to stand in front of the stove cooking a nice dinner for the two of us.

The roast turned out amazing. So simple to make too.

Here are some photos down below of the simple process :

I used a tin foil roasting pan because I wanted not only an easy meal, but an easy clean up ~

After 2 hours it is finished ~
Marco, made the roasted potatoes ~

The roast is also wrapped with pancetta ( bacon )

Dinner is served ~ Roasted Faraona, Onions, Carrots, and Potatoes :)

Simple and delicious and made a great left over too!

Bike show at Moon Cafe in Jesolo ~

Saturday afternoon, Marco and I went to a bike show in Jesolo, Veneto Italy.

Only a one day bike show; had customizers from all over the world.. from Japan to Los Angeles California. I will admit that I still get excited when I see another American.. Haha.

It turned out to be a great, warm, intimate event. One of the smaller events that I've been too, but just as nice and maybe even more welcoming.

Here are some photos I took of some of the motorcycles that stood out to me :)

Oh yes, and there were also Old American Classic Cars.. Always nice to see in Italy, something that reminds you of back home.

Enjoy :)

I am not a huge fan of Choppers but I loved this one! Green handle bars and can't forget the old oil tank in the back. . .

 Old Bob Cycles
All of the colors of the rainbow ~

 Moto Guzzi Bobber ~

What do you all think about this helmet "casko" for Marco? Yay or Nay?

An afternoon spent harvesting grapes

Hi everyone!! Last Thursday I spent my afternoon harvesting grapes..

If some of you don't know, I am doing a blog about making wine. I have a dear friend who has his own winery in the Montello : and he is nice enough to let me follow him around during the  months of September and October..

Here is just a sneak peek of my first day on the job..
By the way, it is a really, really hard job.. I have to admit, after two hours of work, I was exhausted..

Our "capo" for the afternoon

Can you see the look of worry on my face... haha, wasn't sure what to expect...

A new pair of clippers just for me :)

How many buckets does it take to fill up a truck?? Too many.. =)

We celebrated the end of work with a cup of homemade wine ~

Cheers to our first afternoon harvesting grapes ~

An afternoon in the Montello ~

An afternoon spent in the montello at a friends winery. . .

First, I should tell you all that the ride up wasn't as smooth as I had imagined. Driving in Italy really is a challenge.. Missi, my friend was driving us up the steep hill, when all of a sudden the car stalled, and here we were in the middle of the climb and the car stalled.. Nothing like being stuck on a hill with a stick shift.. Surprisingly the people behind us, understood us in a sense, and didn't dare blare their horn or yell at us!

To say the least , I was ready for a glass of vino :)

One of the many beautiful views from the villa

Vettorel ~ Amazing Cabernet ~ email me if interested in buying one or twelve.
Harley enjoying himself amongst the vineyards ~
Nicola ~ our friend and winemaker focused on his work ;)
Four different kinds of Cheese, Sollocosto, Sopressa, Fresh homemade bread, and vino
Nicola wasn't so impressed with the sunset from last night, but I sure was . . .
I can only imagine what beauty he sees living here... sunrises and sunsets...
I think Harley was in heaven yesterday ~
This is from the lawn ~ look at the view you have of all the smaller towns and villages...
On a clear day, you can see as far as Venice ~

Missi, my roommate and friend :)
Missi admiring the Prosecco grapes ~

 What a beautiful home
more grapes ~ will be a lot of work to harvest!
This is a bottle of wine that Nicola's cousin gave to him. Nicola's cousin is the owner of this winery in Napa, California. Pretty cool!
Earlier in the afternoon, Nicola was showing us how he has to clean and disinfect the cantina's before the harvest! And yes, he sometimes, actually has to climb inside.. What a sport he was to show us :)

And lastly a photo of me :) This will be my "office" for the next couple of days!! Looking forward to learning the process of making wine!!
